Search and Find Early Printed Books
More and more of the library's early printed book collections are searchable in the digital catalogues of Uppsala University Library and in LIBRIS, the Swedish union library catalogue. Always start your search in one of those two catalogues. Before you make a request, search for the materials in Alvin – platform for digital collections and digitised cultural heritage.

- Uppsala University Library Search Tool
- Catalogue -1962 – Catalogue of books and periodicals in the University Library, kept up to and including 1962. Some of the content, but far from everything, are also available in the Uppsala University Library’s search system.
- Aurivillius – Catalogue of the books and periodicals that were held at Uppsala University Library in 1796. Much of the material has been transferred to Catalogue -1962, begin your search there.
- Inventory – The Inventory is a list of books and periodicals according to older inventory numbers (subject denomination and serial number) up to and including 1796. Only used together with the Aurivillius catalogue.
- Bibliotheca Walleriana – Catalogue of medical and natural science literature (printed circa 1490s – 1940s) from the Waller collections.
- Occasional Poetry – The Catalogue on Occasional Poetry lists the occasional poetry extant at Uppsala University Library.
- Catalogue of Swedish Biography – Catalogue of a great portion of Uppsala University Library’s biographical materials like funeral sermons, panegyrical poetry and minor biographies of both Swedish royalty and private individuals.
- Sermons – The Catalogue of sermons lists the sermons extant at Uppsala University Library.
- Förteckning över Uppsala universitetsbiblioteks utländska dissertationssamling (-1799) – a list of early dissertation from other countries in Uppsala University Library's collections.

Search and find manuscripts
There are many manuscript collections at Carolina Rediviva. In most cases, you have to be at the library to use the catalogues. However, some materials can be found in the following digital catalogues:
- Alvin - platform for digital collections and digitised cultural heritage, including archives of individuals, families and organisations kept at Uppsala University Library and in other libraries.
- Index to the Manuscript Collection – an overview and orientation tool in the library's different catalogues of the manuscript collection.
- Catalogue of the manuscripts ordered according to subject – an online version of the library's manuscript collection catalogue according to subject available as PDFs.
- Catalogue of medieval manuscripts – an online version of the library's western medieval manuscripts catalogue (in German).
- Catalogue of the Gustavian Collection – an online version of the Gustavian Collection. Due to fragile condition, this collection is not available for request and study in the Special Collections Reading Room.
- Catalogue of the Ihre Collection – an online version of Anders Grape's catalogue of the eighteenth century linguist Johan Ihre's manuscript collection.
- Catalogue of the Nordin Collection – an online version of the Nordin manuscript collection catalogue available as PDFs.
- Registry of the Palmskiöld Collection – an online version of the Palmskiöld manuscript collection catalogue available as PDF.
- Waller catalogue – the catalogue of Dr. Erik Waller's collection of manuscripts. It is one of the largest historical autograph collections, i.e., letters and other original manuscripts written by scientists, doctors, philosophers, humanists, politicians and explorers from all over the world. The collection covers the period from the Middle Ages to the 1950s. All the documents have been scanned and are available online.
- Catalogue of the Persian manuscripts – an online version of the catalogue of the library’s Persian manuscripts (in Persian). English version
Request materials from the catalogues above via a digital order form – requests for more than five items at a time must be made a week in advance.

Search and find correspondence
There are many different correspondence collections at Carolina Rediviva. In most cases you have to be in the Library itself to be able to use the catalogues that the staff can provide for you. However, some titles can be found in the following digital catalogue:

Search and find music collections
Catalogues available online
- Catalogue of Music Manuscripts – 1970.
- Catalogue of printed music -1970. A catalogue consisting of printed scores acquired by Uppsala University Library up to 1970.
- Catalogue of music scores 1970-1980. Catalogue consisting of printed and handwritten music scores acquired by Uppsala University Library up to 1980
- The Library Search Tool Here you can find printed music scores acquired from 1980 onwards.
- Alvin - platform for digital collection and digitised cultural heritage where you can search for archives, which may include music scores. Alvin also includes handwritten music scores acquired by Uppsala University Library after 1980.
Music scores are also included in the following catalogues of collections in Uppsala University Library:
- Medieval music manuscripts in Uppsala University Library in the Catalogue of Medieval Manuscripts. In German only (digitised paper catalogue).
- Aurivillius. A catalogue printed in 1814 of music prints, books and journals held at the Uppsala University Library prior to 1797 (digitised paper catalogue).
- LIBRIS. The Swedish National Library catalogue. This includes printed music produced in Sweden.
Likewise, music scores in Uppsala University Library are included in these database catalogues:
- Düben Collection Database Catalogue. A catalogue of the Düben Collection in Uppsala University Library. This collection consists of vocal and instrumental music from the seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. These are mainly manuscripts. Numerous scores have been scanned and are accessible online in the database.
- RISM. An international catalogue of music prints and music manuscripts before approx. 1800, including those of Uppsala University Library.

- Catalogue -1962 Including maps and atlases in the University Library kept up to and including 1962. Part of the contents, but far from everything, is also available in the Uppsala University Library’s search system.

Search and find Swedish ephemera
Swedish ephemera have usually not been catalogued, and therefore cannot be retrieved in LIBRIS, The Library Search Tool, or any other catalogue of the library.
When ordering, it is important to provide the most adequate information and sources possible. You will find help at the informationdesk at Carolina Rediviva, or contact Ask the Library.
