Bibliography of the Swedish History of Literature |

In its capacity as the Swedish National Resource Library in the Humanities Uppsala University Library has taken over the production of the Bibliography of the Swedish History of Literature from Svenska litteratursällskapet (the Swedish Society of Literature). Records for the bibliography were registered in the database LIBRIS in the period April 1995 to January 2001. This activity then ceased due to lack of funding. Brief historyThe responsibility for the printed bibliography has rested with the Swedish Society of Literature, in whose annual Samlaren the Bibliography of Swedish History of Literature was published between 1881 and 2002. In addition to the annual bibliographies there also exist some cumulative compilations (see bibliography below).In connection with Uppsala University Library assuming responsibility
for the bibliography its contents were reviewed which led to adding
theory of literature to its coverage (cf. Contents below). ContentsIn LIBRIS the following categories of material for the Bibliography of the Swedish History of Literature (BSHL) were registered:
Time limitsThe material registered in LIBRIS until the indexing ceased in January 2001 was printed in the period 1993 to 2000. The whole of this period is not fully covered. The years 1993 to 1996 have an almost complete coverage and the years 1997 and 1998 are in all essentials covered. For the year 1999 collections and the main scholary journals and annuals have been indexed but with some gaps for whole issues of certain publications. For the year 2000 the same is true concerning periodicals while the other literature has only been covered partially.In addition to this records referring to older material were created when it had not been included in the printed bibliographies for 1992 or earlier. For material published in 1992 or earlier in general the reader is referred to the printed bibliographies in the list of references below (neither of these are in English). It should be noted that even though the current coverage by BHSL
has ceased some registering of literary scholarship still is made
in the LIBRIS database. On the one hand some records are registered
by other bibliographies in case they are appearing in collections
and annuals indexed by, for instance, the National
Bibliography's indexing of articles and contributions (NBI)
or the Swedish Historical
Bibliography, on the other hand there is a complete coverage
of literature concerning Swedish children's authors (reviews excluded)
through the agency of the Bibliography
of children's and young persons' literature. For further information concerning bibliographies in the field
