All the digital pictures in PictureSearch have been produced by Uppsala University Library. The pictures are protected by copyright legislation. Pictures and texts may not be used or changed without the permission of the photographer or the organisation owning them.
The pictures you see on your screen are low resolution pictures and may be used for personal use only. All other use of the pictures in PictureSearch require permission from the University Library and in certain cases also from the holder of the copyright. Any agreement concerning the right of use applies to one specific occasion and is not transferable.
In the case of publications the name of the copyright holder and Uppsala University Library must accompany the picture or be part of a list of illustrations. This can be written as follows:
Artist: name of the artist, digital image: Uppsala University Library
or alternatively
Photographer: name of photographer, digital image: Uppsala University Library.
In cases where the word ”Copyright” is displayed instead of a digital image of the object, the rights are held by a third party (for example the artist or photographer). In such cases the University Library does not have permission to publish the picture, but can make copies for personal use. If you wish to use such a picture in any other way (for instance in print or online) then you must contact the copyright holder.
The onus for complying with copyright legislation lies with the person ordering copies.
