The exhibition of Herta Müller's work was launched on "Nobel Day", Thursday 10 December in the foyer of Carolina Rediviva.
The exhibition showed how important collecting, especially book collectors' own book collections, have been for the Library - ever since the 17th century up to today.

The author with roots in France and Mauritius was celebrated with an exhibition of words and pictures showing his writing from his first novel in 1963.
On display to the public were letters and manuscripts written in Linnaeus' own hand-writing, first editions of seminal works and rare imprints to honour the 3rd centenary of our most famous scientist.

What are the origins of pens and pencils? Where were they made and what symbolic value have they had over the years? The exhibition illuminated thousands of years from reeds to ballpoint pens.
The theme of this exhibition was the 400 years of teaching and research in Semitic languages (Assyro-Bablyonian, Hebrew, Aramaic, Arabic and Ethiopian languages) at Uppsala University.
This Swedish writer would have been 100 on 6th May 2004, had he lived. We honoured the sailor who won the Nobel Prize, a traveller with the gift of writing and an environmentally conscious poet.
