Uppsala University Library regularly organises exhibitions of items from its collections. Carolina Rediviva's exhibition hall is a treasure trove of books, manuscripts, maps an pictures that will take you on a dizzy journey through the ages.

The Library's most valuable possession is the Silver Bible, or the Codex argenteus, which is written with silver ink on purple coloured vellum.
But there are also treasures of other kinds such as the Carta Marina by Olaus Magnus - the earliest reasonably correct map of the Nordic countries - and documents from medieval northern Europe, the Uppsala Eddan and Magnus Eriksson's National Law Code.
Enjoy the map of Mexico City which was most likely painted by Aztecs during the period of the Spanish conquistadors. Similarly unique are the Persian and Ethiopian manuscripts and the cuneiform writing on clay tablets from the Temple of the Sun God in 7th century Babylon.
See too Fredrika Bremer's illustrations from her travels in North America and Cuba or Mozart's own handwritten draft of his most frequently performed opera - The Magic Flute.
