Uppsala University Library can contribute to exhibitions organised by other cultural institutions, both in Sweden and abroad, with items from its collections.
International praxis has established special rules for loans of this kind. A contract is drawn up where the borrowing organisation agrees to observe the rules and requirements described in the contract. It may be that the object is to be insured, or that it is packed and transported by a courier from the Library, or that certain safety measures are to be followed whilst it is on display.
Since these loans are usually part of our cultural heritage collections, the physical condition of the requested item and the security around the exhibition are prime considerations when deciding about allowing the loan.
Requests for loans to exhibitions should be sent in writing to: The Library Director, Uppsala University Library, Box 510, 751 20 Uppsala, Sweden. (Requests should be made as early as possible, but at the latest eight weeks before the opening of the exhibition).
