Newspapers on microfilm

Since 1979 Swedish daily newspapers no longer have to be delivered as printed matter. Instead they are delivered on microfilm. Please note that there is a certain delay in deliveries of the microfilms.

All Swedish newspapers have been microfilmed since 1979 but the most important dailies can be found on microfilm from the date of their first publication.  Retrospective microfilming is carried out continuously. A list of the newspapers on microfilm is available on the National Library's webpage for Microfilmed Swedish daily newspapers.

All the microfilmed newspapers are held in Carolina Rediviva, including Dagens industri and Finanstidningen.

The microfilms at Carolina Rediviva are readily available in the microfilm room on the 5th floor.

Did you know that ...

libraries have been microfilming sensitive and bulky documents for a long time. It was a widespread technique before the age of digitalisation. Most of the Library's microfilms are copies of Swedish newspapers, but there are also microfilms of some older items, e.g. oriental manuscripts and all the University's incunables, i.e. books printed up to and including the year 1500.
