The music collections at Uppsala University Library consist of printed and manuscript music, the earliest being from the 13th century.

These collections have been built up since the 17th century by donations, exchange and purchase. A large part of the older printed music was war booty from the Thirty Years' War, while the more modern printed scores have been acquired through legal deposits. Numbered among the greatest musical treasures of the Library are the Düben Collection, Cancionero de Uppsala, a unique work from 16th century Spain and Mozart's draft of his most frequently performed opera - The Magic Flute - written in his own hand. The shop in the foyer of Carolina Rediviva sells discs and music from our collections.
The Section for Manuscripts and Music has responsibility for the Library's music and for making it available at Carolina Rediviva.
