The United Nations is committed to making information about its programmes and operations available to the public and considers free access to information a key democratic principle.
In order to make its documents and publications available throughout the world, the United Nations maintains a network of depository libraries.
The Dag Hammarskjöld Library, Uppsala, as part of this network, holds Scandinavia's most complete collection of UN documents in print covering the period 1946-1992. For more recent documents it has access to electronic archives and special databases.

Specialized Agencies
The specialized agencies are 16 autonomous organizations joined to the UN organization through special agreements.

The UN archive (pdf 3.4 MB) covers the complete United Nations documentation 1946-1992.
Documents after 1992 are stored in the UN fulltext database ODS.
