Hogenskild Bielke (1538-1605), a Swedish nobleman, collected a library which probably formed part of the donation of books to Uppsala University by Gustavus Adolphus in 1621.

Part of the library was later dispersed but some of these books have been found in other Swedish libraries. Wolfgang Undorf's catalogue (cf. the bibliography) based on Otto Walde's studies is an attempt to reconstruct Bielke's library. The catalogue can give us an idea of what the library of a 16th century man of letters could contain in the fields of theology, belles letters, politics, and science.
