The following e-book collections have been purchased by the University Library. You can search for e-books from the collection platforms. 

AccessMedicine    (50 titles) Terms of use
Medical reference works including Harrison's Online, Goodman & Gilman's Pharmacology and Lange Educational Library. Daily updates.

Books@OVID   (350 titles) Terms of use
Books on clinical medicine, pharmacology particularly well-known books on medicine, healthcare and pharmaceuticals.

Cambridge Histories Online   (250 titles) Terms of use
Historical text books on many subjects including art, science and language. They are divided up according to subject which facilitates searches in a number of subjects of historical interest. There are many  bibliographic references and other kinds of search functionality that are useful for historical research. Contains more than 250 titles from 1960 onwards.

Early European Books. Collection 1. Royal Library, Copenhagen  Terms of use
Early European Books is a collection of early European printing in fulltext. It traces the history of printing in Europe from its origins through to the close of the seventeenth century, offering full-colour, high-resolution facsimile images of rare and hard-to-access printed sources. This first part contains scanned books from The Royal Library in Copenhagen, among others the works of Tycho Brahe.

A platform for titles from different publischers for individual books bouhgt by the Uppsala University Library.  

Ebrary   (45,000 titles) Terms of use
English language books in many different subject areas, e.g. economics, humanities, teaching, science and medicine. You can search the full text of all the books. The books open in "Quickview", but in order to be able to make full use of the functionality for making notes and listening to the text you must use "Ebrary Unity Reader" which you can download free of charge. Printouts are limited to 15% of each e-book for each viewing. Ebrary changes its content sometimes. Contact the Section for E-resources if you can't find a book that was available previously.

E-books on sociology, political science, economics, law, library and information science, informatics, media and communication studies, statistics and social work. (Formerly: NetLibrary)

ECCO - Eighteenth Century Collections Online  (150,000 titles) Terms of use
English language books published in the United Kingdom in the 18th century. It also includes important works published in North America. All books are in full text. For federated searches in both ECCO and EEBO, use ECCO.

EEBO - Early English Books Online, 1475-1700    (100,000 titles) Terms of use
Books in English published between 1475-1700 in full text. Everything from the first printed book in English to Shakespeare. A great source for historical materials on literature, history, science, music etc. It can even be searched together with ECCO.

Emerald eBook Series Collection Business, Management and Economics    (550 titles) Terms of use
Emerald Business, Management and Economics eBook Series Collection contains over 550 volumes from over 70 book series titles. Featuring relevant, international and trusted content in many fields including strategy, economics and accounting and finance.  
Includes titles 1991-2010. 

Gale Virtual Reference Library (8 titles) Terms of use
Reference books in various subjects: Endangered Species, Environmental Encyclopedia, Pollution A to Z, Water: Science and Issues, Gale Encyclopedia of Science, Encyclopaedia Judaica, Encyclopedia of Religion, New Dictionary of the History of Ideas

Books, periodicals, working papers, statistics and country reports from International Monetary Fund - IMF.   

Knovel  (1,850 titles) Terms of use
Reference works and manuals mainly on technology, chemistry and materials science in full text from a number of different publishers. You can search through all the books simultaneously and all the content is interactive. You can work with the graphs and tables in the books and export them to other programmes. Use the Fielded search to combine various fields, numeric values etc.

OECD's online library (books, journals and statistics). Replaces SourceOECD. 

Oxford English Dictionary (1 title) Terms of use
A unique source for scholarly information on semantics, etymology and the pronunciation of old and new English words.

Oxford Reference Online - The Premium Collection  (175 titles) Terms of use
Reference books from Oxford University press in all subject areas that can be searched simultaneously. Also contains more than 20,000 quotations in the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations.

Oxford Scholarship Online (2,700 titles) Terms of use
E-books in many different subject areas, e.g. art, economics, physics and public health.

PsycBooks  (1,800 titles) Terms of use
Books and chapers on psychology. Includes Encyclopedia of Psychology.

Referex Engineering   (930 titles) Terms of use
E-books in full text on mechanics, materials technology, electronics and electrotechnology. Uppsala has access to two of the collections: Mechanical and materials engineering and Electronics and electrical engineering.

SAGE eReference  (15 titles) Terms of use
Reference works and handbooks on psychology, medicine and social sciences.

Springer e-books 2005-2011  (18,950 titles) Terms of use
English language books published by Springer between 2005-2010. No limits with regard to printouts, copying and borrowing. SpringerLINK also contains e-books published before 2005. These are not available.  

Springer Protocols   (16,000 titles) Terms of use
16,000 full text protocols from e.g. Methods in molecular biology and Methods in molecular medicine. In addition there is a large selection of  Laboratory Handbooks and Springer Laboratory Manuals.

Synthesis   (300 titles) Terms of use
Synthesis is ancollection of "lectures" in engineering and computer science. The "Lecture" is a 50- to 100- page electronic book  that synthesizes an important research or development topic, authored by an expert contributor to the field. They offer more analysis and depth than the typical research journal article.

Thieme ElectronicBook Library (40 titles) Terms of use
Text books and atlases, "Flexibooks", on both basic and clinical medicine.  E-books can be downloaded to your own computer (the iOffline reading program can be downloaded from the platform)
