Uppsala University Library is Sweden's oldest academic library and it owns more than 5 million books on more than 134 kilometres of shelves.

In order to serve Uppsala University, which embraces many different disciplines, the Library provides books on a very wide selection of subjects.
The Library's collections of printed books extends from the late 15th century to the modern day and includes both Swedish and foreign books. The collection of Swedish imprints is particularly comprehensive because of the system of legal deposits which was introduced at the end of the 17th century.
The Library's book collections include electronic books. These are mainly foreign non-fiction books.
