Wireless networks

Do you want to use your own computer to work online in the Library? With some restrictions you can connect up to the University's WiFi.

Which libraries have WiFi?

All the subject libraries at Uppsala University Library have wireless connections, not however in all rooms.

What wireless networks are available?

Within the scope of UpUnet-S - the student network at Uppsala universitet - the university has installed a wireless network (WLAN) in various university buildings. All students and employees at Uppsala universitet can use the network, if they have a student or employee account.

Students and employees at Uppsala universiet can also use wireless networks at other higher educational institutions in Sweden and Europa if they are connected to eduroam.

  • UpUnet-S (non-secure connection)
  • Eduroam (secure connections, WPA2 and WPA)

Who can use the WiFis?

  • Students and staff at Uppsala University can use either UpUnet-S (easiest) or Eduroam
  • Students and staff from other universities and colleges of higher education can use Eduroam if their university/college participates in Eduroam. Contact your university or refer to the map of eduroam universities.

Getting connected

  • UpUnet-S: use your computer in a room where you can connect up to the wireless network UpUnet-S. When you get to Uppsala University's CAS page (Central web authenication), login with your user ID and password A.
  • Eduroam: you have to adjust some settings on your computer and you may need to install some software.  Read the information about using eduroam on the University's website.

How to get help?

Use UpUnet-S Support when you need help.  Please note that it is not the University Library that runs the wireless network at Uppsala University which means that you won't be able to get technical support from the Library staff.
