If you wish to adopt a book, select one from the adoption list. There are books on a variety of subjects.

On making an adoption, you will secure a place in the list of Library benefactors and you will be associated with a chosen book forever. You will be able to visit the Library and see its activities, its collections and  also how the books are being preserved.

With a larger gift, a label bearing your name will be inserted into the selected book. If the book is of such intrinsic value that a bookplate cannot be pasted into the book, a book box will be custom-made to the size of the book and the label will be affixed to the box. This option enables us to offer rare books for adoption. If you prefer, you can also make an adoption in someone else's name in which case it will be the name of that person that will accompany the chosen book into the future.

Adoptions are carried out by donating a set amount of money. The adoption list is published in an online shop. Adopt a book and begin a relationship with the Library.

There are 6 levels for adoptions

1. 500 SEK. You will receive a certificate in your own or in someone else’s name; this will certifý that you have adopted a book. Your name will be entered on the donor's list.
   
   
2. 1000 SEK. As above, but also a tour of the Library together with other donors on set occasions.
   
   
3. 2000 SEK. As above, but including a visit to the preservation section.
4. 5000 SEK. As above, but also including a guided visit for you personally and a personal book-plate with your own, or someone else’s name, mounted in the selected book or in a book box (for rare books).
5. 10 000 SEK.  As above but including a framed diploma, with thanks from the Vice Chancellor of Uppsala University.  A plaque engraved with the donor's name will be hung in a public place in the Library. At this level you can either choose a book from the existing list or contact us for selecting another book from the Library's collections.
6. This level applies only to rare items and always after a special agreement with the donor. An individual agreement for a set period of time will enable you to support the Library's most valuable items. Special privileges come with such an agreement. Contact us 

All money will go directly to the preservation of the collections and by adopting a book, you will be able to make a valuable contribution to the cultural heritage of Sweden.

Besides contributing, our hope is that you will also enjoy your relationship with the University and its Library. You name will be associated with things made for, or owned by, kings and other celebrities from the past.
