Visiting rules

Welcome to Uppsala University Library and Carolina Rediviva

Due to particularly valuable collections and for the comfort of our patrons, the visiting rules may seem slightly stricter at Carolina Rediviva than at the other units of Uppsala University Library. A manned cloakroom in the Entrance Hall, which is free of charge, gives additional service to visitors.

Outdoor garments, umbrellas, bags bigger than A4 format, rucksacks and laptop bags must be left either in the cloakroom or in the lockers outside the security barrier. If you have books and a computer you wish to carry into the reading rooms, clear plastic bags are provided. If you are on a short visit to the library, coats and bags can be left on a hanger next to the cloakroom.

Food, fruit and drinks may not be taken into the reading rooms and other areas inside the security barrier.

When entering the library you first need to pass the security barrier. This is necessary in order to prevent material from leaving the building without having been checked out.

There are different types of reading rooms and study areas in the library. Some of them are arranged for quiet study. Therefore, special consideration to other patrons must be shown there by refraining from loud conversation and mobile telephoning.

Camera use by researchers in the Special Reading Rooms occurs only with departmental permission.

Use of personal cameras are not allowed in the Exhibition Hall.

The general prohibition of smoking and bringing animals into university premises apply to Carolina Rediviva.
